Standing in Confidence

The great blue herons living around my neighborhood ponds are always a source of fascination no matter the season. The inspiration for this small study in oil was based on a series of photos taken during the fall. I usually have to work quickly before I’m spotted and my elusive friend decides to take flight! The early morning autumn light, coupled with the surrounding grasses created an interesting subject. It will be fun to ‘upsize’ this work at a future time.
